More About University Of Mysore:

The University of Mysore was established in 1916 by the Maharaja of Mysore, His Highness Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar. It is the 6tholdest university in India and was established with a mission of promoting teaching and research in conventional domains of Arts, Humanities and Applied Sciences. With the support of the University Grants Commission (UGC), which came into existence in 1956, post-graduate education was expanded significantly in the years following the establishment. In 1960, a major development was the conglomeration of all the post-graduate studies of the University at one location.

The university presently has 196 affiliated and four constituent colleges under its purview. It is now looking to lay a greater emphasis on Basic sciences and has thus introduced M. Sc courses in physics, chemistry and biochemistry. Mysore university has also formed ties with various Chinese universities for resource sharing and training.
